Position: Development Strategist (Contract) 

Remote | Flexible Hours | Commission-Based | Mission-Driven Work

Wombs of the World is an international organization committed to improving maternal health outcomes through global education, immersive travel, and community-led initiatives. Our work spans across Ecuador, Tanzania, and Mexico, with new programs launching in South Africa and Malaysia. We are also preparing for a global summit of Indigenous birthworkers in Berlin in 2025.

 

We operate across three branches:

  • Wombs of the World LLC: Travel and educational programming

  • WotW Foundation (501c3): U.S.-based nonprofit focused on funding grassroots maternal health

  • Wombs of the World Europe (SARL): Our EU entity based in France

 

About the Role

 

We are hiring a Development Strategist whose primary responsibility is raising funds. You will be accountable for driving revenue across three verticals:

  1. Grants: Identify, write, and submit applications for relevant grants

  2. Donations: Engage, cultivate, and convert donor relationships

  3. Online Course Sales: Develop partnerships and marketing strategies to boost enrollment

This is a contractor role with performance-based compensation. It is designed for someone who knows how to fundraise, is motivated by impact, and can deliver measurable financial results.

 

Key Responsibilities

You will own and execute our fundraising and revenue strategy. Responsibilities include:

1. Grants

  • Research and maintain a pipeline of aligned grant opportunities

  • Lead all aspects of grant writing and submission

  • Track deadlines, reporting requirements, and follow-ups

Note: Grant work is non-commissionable and will be paid on a flat fee or per-project basis only

2. Donations

  • Build a portfolio of individual donors and philanthropic supporters

  • Craft campaigns and outreach strategies to drive recurring giving

  • Coordinate with the founder on high-level asks or introductions

3. Online Course Sales

  • Identify B2B and B2C partnerships for course promotion

  • Contribute to marketing campaigns or strategic sales efforts

  • Track and report sales metrics and optimize for conversion

 

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced: 3 to 5+ years in fundraising, development, or business development

  • Results-Oriented: Proven ability to raise funds and close deals

  • Strategic and Independent: Can build and execute plans without needing handholding

  • Values-Aligned: Understands and respects the urgency of global maternal health

  • Entrepreneurial: Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, early-stage environment

 

Compensation Structure

This is a 1099 contract role with the following compensation structure:

  • Grant Writing: Paid per grant or flat fee (no commission)

  • Donations: Commission plus performance-based bonuses

  • Course Sales: Commission-based with upside for strong sales growth

  • Travel: All work-related travel covered, including our Berlin Summit in 2025
