THE WORLD NEEDS MORE BIRTHWORKERS
The Wombs of the World Full Spectrum Doula Training brings together everything we have learned through years of global maternal health work, traditional midwifery partnerships, clinical collaboration, and community-based projects. It was designed to equip you with the knowledge, awareness, and perspective you need to support families anywhere in the world.

A core truth we have learned through all of this is that the doula is the bridge.

You are the bridge that connects the reverence and sacredness of birth with the realities of modern systems. You help create space where ceremony, tradition, advocacy, and evidence-based care can coexist in any birth setting, whether that is at home, in a birth center, or in a hospital.
The goal of this training is to help you understand birth within your own culture and its systems, and to equip you to care skillfully for the families you will support.

The world needs more birthworkers, and we are here to give you everything you need to begin.
A Doula Training Unlike Anything Else in the World
A Training Rooted in the Whole World

Wombs of the World integrates global midwifery traditions, cultural practices, and modern evidence-based care. You learn to see birth through a lens that honors culture, history, justice, and the realities people face across different systems and communities.

Whether you plan to attend births or want to understand how birth shapes families and societies, this training offers a global perspective that is rarely included in doula education.

Birth is sacred. Birth is universal. Birth is political. Birth is cultural. Birth is communal. Birth belongs to us all.
And your work as a birthworker has the power to ripple across generations.

The Five Core Courses
This training is crafted as a five-course journey, each one building your confidence, deepening your intuition, expanding your global awareness, and strengthening the way you hold space for others. By the end, you won’t just know birthwork. You’ll embody it.
Course One:
Foundations of Global Birthwork
This course invites you to zoom out so you can zoom in.
You will explore the foundation on which modern birthwork stands, from the anthropology of the mother to trauma informed care to global birth practices. Together we build a clear picture of how birth is shaped by culture, systems, history, and community. You are encouraged to understand the birth culture you live in and, most importantly, how to be of service within it.

By the end of this course, you will have a strong understanding of what birthwork requires emotionally, culturally, and practically, and how to show up with steadiness and respect.
Course Two:
Understanding Birth
All things birth! This course gives you a grounded understanding of how labor works and what the body needs. You will learn anatomy, the hormonal flow of birth, comfort measures, positioning, nervous system support, advocacy, and presence.
You will also learn how to support birth across settings and cultures with a trauma aware and globally informed approach.

You will leave this course with clarity and confidence in your ability to support the physiology and ceremony of birth.
Course Three:
Postpartum & Reproductive Transitions
Support the full arc of becoming: birth, postpartum, grief, healing, and beyond.
You’ll step into global postpartum traditions, emotional integration, NICU literacy, PMAD awareness, infant rhythms, fertility, loss, and the lifelong continuum of womb care.
This course teaches you to hold families through the deepest transformations, the tender, raw spaces where identity shifts and new worlds begin.
This is the heart of community care.
Course Four:
Beyond Birth- Social Justice, Diversity & Ethics
Birthwork exists inside systems that reflect the world around us. This course helps you navigate those systems with awareness, responsibility, and cultural humility. You will learn intersectional care, queer and trans support, disability informed care, anti-racist practice, informed consent, power dynamics, and the social realities that shape birth outcomes.

You will understand how to support every family with integrity and how to help make birth environments more compassionate and respectful.
Course Five:
Stepping Into Practice
The world needs more birthworkers.
This course prepares you to begin working. You will learn client care, documentation, accessibility, pricing, reimbursement pathways, branding, storytelling, community visibility, and sustainable scheduling.
You will also receive guidance on how to build relationships with hospitals, clinics, and community networks.

These entrepreneurial tools extend in all facets of life. We just want to get you working.

Certification & Our Philosophy
We believe birthwork is ancestral and community-rooted, and that doula knowledge has always belonged to the people. At the same time, many of us live in systems that require certification in order to work in hospitals, access reimbursement, or be recognized by institutions. We value accessibility, and as always, our priority is to help you begin supporting families as soon as you feel ready.

When you complete all five courses and your final project, you will receive an official Certificate of Completion from Wombs of the World. This certificate reflects full-spectrum training in global birthwork, cultural humility, postpartum support, advocacy, and practical skills.

We designed this program to align with the core requirements many hospitals, states, and insurance programs look for, including Medicaid-supported doula programs.

Your final project is simple: show us how you are stepping into birthwork — a website, flyer, client packet, pitch to a hospital, or any practical tool that reflects your path. You will share it during one live session.

Our goal is to prepare you to work in your community with confidence.
The world needs more birthworkers, and we are here to help you begin.
